HBC - Home Based Childcare

HBC  is a locally owned and operated Home Based Childcare Service offering afforable childcare in the Whakatane region of the Eastern Bay of Plenty  in New Zealand.

The service is licenced through the Ministry of Education and members of the NZ Home Based Association.

HBC is managed by 2 Directors; Jodeen Mitchell (Co-ordinator) and Rachel Berben (Office Manager) who have both worked and been involoved in the early childhood industry prior to establishing HBC.

Both Jodeen and Rachel have great work ethics and have children of their own so understand the importance of quality home based childcare and are committed and focused to continue to grow the business and become a very important part of the community.

The philosophy of HBC was founded on the aspirations for children from Te Whariki - He Whariki Matauranga mo nga Mokopuna o Aotearoa Early Childhood Curriculum.  For each child to be entitled to grow up as a competent and confident learner and communicator, healthy in mind, body and spirit, secure in their sense of belonging and in the knowledge that they make a valued contribution to society.  HBC's primary focus is on the children in our service and we acknowledge that each child is unique and has their own capabilities and needs, and we believe that our curriculum offers variety, excitement for learning, challenges and fun.

HBC ensures to help the development of children being supported and nurtured through quality home based education in our community that meets the needs of Parents/Whanau, diverse cultures and the wider community.
